If Christ is real and he founded the church why has his church been so full of violence in its history? When we look at Church history, we see terrible abuses and violence. How can Christianity be true if the Church is this way?
We are reminded of what Gandhi said, “I like Christ. It’s the Christians I have a problem with.”
We remember what the German philosopher Nietzsche said, “I will believe in their redeemer when his followers start acting redeemed.”
To find answers to this tough question, Lee Strobel in his book The Case for Faith visited the home of Dr. John Woodbridge, the research professor of church history at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in Deerfield, Illinois. He has also taught in several secular universities in both the United States and France. He is the author of numerous books on history and theology and is a member of several key historical societies.
It is important to readwhat Woodbridge says about these events and my commentary on God’s Word. Click on this link to read this presentation of “Why is Church History Full of Abuse and Violence 1”
