A pastor was asked to give a lecture to a group of young people on the reliability of scripture. He carefully prepared and lined up all his arguments. When he finished, he discovered, to his dismay, that no one seemed moved by his reasoning. He asked one young man if he was now trusting in God’s word and the young man said, “No, I’m not.” When the pastor asked why, the young man gave a bible reference as his answer, “Hosea 13:16. That’s why I don’t trust the Bible.”
“Samaria will be held guilty for she has rebelled against her God. They will fall by the sword. Their little ones will be dashed in pieces and their pregnant women will be ripped open.”
Can we trust the God of the Bible? Does he murder innocent people?
In our series “Tough Questions for Today’s Christian” we begin exploring this question. This is the first of three messages on this topic.
